Duquesne Young Artist Performance Awards 2012

The goal of the Performance Awards is to recognize and to honor the achievements of piano and strings students. The Awards are open to students ages 6 to 18.

Winners will be chosen by CD only, there is no live audition. Winners will perform in the Winner's Recital on February 25, 2012, 2:00PM in the PNC Recital Hall in the School of Music at Duquesne University. Each winner will be awarded a Winner's Diploma. There is no monetary prize. You may participate in both the Performance Awards and the Duquesne Young Artist National Competition.

PERFORMANCE AWARDS RULES

  • Application and CD must be postmarked by Monday, January 23, 2012.
  • A nonrefundable fee of $30 is required. Please make your check payable to City Music Center.
  • Memorization is required. Winners will not be allowed to perform with music and will be disqualified.
  • The judges' decisions are final. The winners will be notified by February 10, 2012.

Repertoire

One work from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic or Modern period no longer than 5 minutes. Longer works will be disqualified. No repeats, no popular music, no simplified arrangements or easy pieces from method books (example, Alfred, Bastien Method Books). Strings students must perform with piano accompaniment.

Recording

Only a CD will be accepted. Please no DVD. Write the name of the piece, exact duration, composer and your age on the CD. Do not write your name on CD.

It is in your interest to make a good quality recording. Your CD will not be returned.

Effective June 1, 2011, CMC will begin processing Summer Tuition Payments online. Final tuition payments for the current academic year should continue to be processed through the CMC office.

Please note, credit card payments will be subject to a 2.55% prcessing fee. Payments by check or eCheck have no fee.
