City Music Center Fall Memo The Last Saturday!
Congratulations to all students and teachers who participated in last week's recital. It was spectacular and represented a huge amount of work done over the year.
AND congratulations to this year's Merit Winners. Each year Symphony North gives us a donation to be awarded to those students who have demonstrated excellence. The faculty Chairs make the selection and this year's award goes to
Dominic Carrola, piano, student of Israel Kremen
Carmen Lo Presti, voice, student of Bridget Steele
Our wonderful Voice Department is holding their year-end recital on Saturday at 10am in PNC. Don't miss it if you have the opportunity to attend.
Some of our faculty are doing exciting things this summer. Taras Filenko is touring Eastern Europe on a lecture/performance tour about Mykola Lysenko. Taras recently published a very impressive book about this relatively unknown composer. Igor Kraevsky and music colleagues in France are presenting 11 chamber recitals during the month of August. I am going to my annual Eurhythmics conference in Geneva and Bert is going to Nashville for a Pinnacle Handbell Symposium. She will be doing 2 Handbell workshops for WYEP's summer music program. I'm sure there are more but no one has told me!!
About wireless access for parents. We inquired and unless you are a D.U. students, staff or faculty member there is no access. Too bad.
A few reminders. The handbell class is over for the year. You should have received reports for all Musicianship classes. Class placements for next year will be handed out to parents if Jayne sees you, otherwise we will mail them this week.
Don't forget to register for summer lessons. As for the fall, I will send out a memo in August reminding you. Nothing is changing as far as the schedule or the tuition. We are very happy once again to be in a position not to increase tuition.
Have a terrific summer. Bert and I will be keeping the summer schedule, Mon through Fri 9 - 4:30. We will be lonely here without all of you but we won't rush the fall!
Thank you all for a very good year.
