City Music Center Fall Memo March 6, 2010
Last Saturday we had an extravagance of music. In the morning the 22 Winners of the Piano Festival presented a wonderful recital. In the afternoon this year's Solo Competition Winners' Recital featured a wealth of young talent. The level of playing gets higher every year.
Some statistics about this year's Competition
| Total number entered | 94 |
| Geographic distribution | 24 out of area: New Jersey, Wisconsin. Maryland, Virginia. New York, Ohio and other parts of PA, |
| CMC students who entered | 5 |
| CMC winners | Katie Liu and Sasha Voinov |
A complete list of the winners is on the b.b.
Six finalists will compete for the 1st prize in the Concerto Division on April 10 at 2pm with the Duquesne University Orchestra under the baton of Sidney Harth The winner will receive $1,000 and a performance with the Pittsburgh Symphony in an outreach or educational performance. I urge you to come to that recital of 6 superb musicians.
Indy Bernard won the Pittsburgh Philharmonic Concerto Competition. He will perform sometime in May.
Be aware that the St. Patrick's parade takes place tomorrow so allow enough time or plan a different route if your usual commute crosses the parade line. It usually starts somewhere around the arena.
Other than this excitement there is nothing much to report except to remind you that there is no school on April 3, Easter weekend. The JCC will be closed on March 31 because of Passover.
